Archives and Special Collections: College Archives Collections

College Records

The college records were first organized in 1974 by archivist Carol Finerman as a special project in conjunction with the school's centennial. The container list she created for the collection expanded over the years, eventually resulting in a 300+ page Microsoft word document. In 2017 the library embarked on a project to bring the collection into the 21st century, creating an organizational schema and finding aids for the records in ArchivesSpace, our collections management system.

While new finding aids for segments of the institutional records are being created in ArchivesSpace on a routine basis, it may take years to completely re-organize these collections and migrate all the data. The older classification scheme and container list may be accessed by downloading the PDF provided.

Oral Histories

The Maritime Memory Oral History Project fosters an understanding of life at the Maritime College through recording the memories and stories of its graduates.

Personal Papers

The library is home to many collections of personal papers of alumni, faculty, and staff that shed light on their personal experience at the college and in the maritime industry. Highlights include the papers of Malcolm Peters Nash (Class of 1887), John S. Baylis (Class of 1903), and Arthur M. Tode (Class of 1912).
