In-Text Citations Defined

In-text citations are used to cite information used from a resource within the body of the research paper. They can also be used on a slide in a PowerPoint Presentation.  These references point the reader to the resources in the works cited page.   

In-Text Citations in a Research Paper

In a research paper, in-text citations should go at the end of the statement. 

In-Text Template

Original sentence from writer about the work being referred to (Last name year).

In-Text Example

His study includes the first sampling cycle that covers all climatic seasons, to know changes in the abundance and composition of zooplankton in the coastal waters off the El Mogote Sandbar, in Bahía de La Paz, BCS, Mexico (Whitehead 2020).

In-Text Citation in a Presentation
